This week I'm going to talk about what happens when you bond with a dragon in the Elemental Dragons universe.
First, your heartbeat matches theirs.
You and your dragon will have the exact same heartbeat at all times. Even if one isn't with the other, they will still feel their heart beating fast or slow depending on what situation they're in. The bond is solidified in the heart, creating an attachment between the two of you that can't be broken manually.
Second, your temperature matches theirs.
If one of you is in snow, the other will be cold as well. If one of you is overheating, so will the other. The only Elementals that don't worry about this too much are fire Elementals and ice Elementals.
Third, the element will be passed over.
This isn't quite understood in the Elemental Dragons universe, but the second you touch a dragon egg, your element is passed over. Because a bond has been built, the dragon instinctively knows what element you carry. They learn it as you do, so they will never surpass you in mastering it.
Fourth, the bond is formed.
This happens in seconds. Once the egg has grown, it means the bond has formed successfully. You and your dragon will be linked for life. A bond will only be broken when one of you dies.
Bonding with a dragon gives you a companion for life and they will always be with you. Even when they aren't around, you'll be able to feel their presence.
There is a misconception that the dragon will also inherit your personality and fears, but this isn't the case. They will have their own personality, phobias and likes and dislikes that could be different from your own.
