The Alien Planet That Hosts the Game of Air and Lightning

Hi all,

Now that Game of Air and Lightning is out, I thought I'd talk a bit about the planet the book primarily takes place on.

Although the book doesn't name this planet, it's called Gamus. It was a planet that Aerus and Bolt chose to use for their games, it doesn't hold any significance to them beyond that.

The gods use the inhabitants of the planet as pawns in the games, often forcing them to attack players or punishing them if they interfere too much.

The gods themselves created the safe zone and even moved some of the Gamus inhabitants around the planet to better fit their games. The only one to escape this so far is the creature that Reema refers to as a spider. The spiders are hard to control but the gods put up with them as they eat the corpses of the dead.

Gamus is a large planet, orbiting a single sun thousands of light years from Earth. Humanity has no idea that it exists outside of the games as it isn't visible through telescopes.

It is mostly water, with a few islands of land that have formed their own ecosystems. It once used to be one land mass, until the gods split it in half and moved one half to the other side of Gamus. So far, they haven't touched that piece of land since.

The days are slightly longer than ones on Earth, but only by an hour. The area the gods use for the games is always set during the planet's spring time.

This planet is different to the one in The First Sacrifice. That planet is closer to the gods home planet and is called Xosa. The gods used that planet once to scare humans before the games and abandoned it ever since. The only evidence that they were there are the Sentinels, which have been left prowling the planet.

That's it for this week! I hope you found learning about Gamus interesting. See you next week.
