Why I Love Participating in Anthologies

Hi all!

If you've been checking out my other publications page, you've probably seen the list of anthologies that I've been published in. When I write short stories, I submit only to anthologies now. Why? Read below!

Physical copies.

Anthologies are far more likely to do physical copies when published. I love lining them all up on my bookshelf to see how much I've been published in. One anthology that I was included in even sent out a physical copy as part of the payment for submitting, which I thought was really nice.

Builds your portfolio.

You can add Anthologies that you've submitted to when you're pitching to agents and publishers. The fact that you already have work out there shows that you're dedicated to your craft and also boosts your letters if you're struggling to find stuff to add to it.

Free Submission.

I only submit to anthologies that don't have a submission fee. Not because they're not worth it, but because I don't think it's right to charge authors a lot of money to have one short story published in the book. I know some authors prefer only submitting to paid ones, but I like to keep my budget for my own books.

Different Themes.

I've found that my writing has gotten a lot better when I broaden the themes. My favourite theme so far is one about nephilim. I found the subject so intriguing that I knew I needed to write something for it straight away.

Collaborative Project.

I really love reading other authors’ stories. I love seeing an insight into how their minds work and how their writing differs from mine. You can find your new favourite author in an anthology if you look hard enough!

More Variety.

I can write a variety of short stories or even submit ones that have been sat in my folder for a while. It gets them out there and it also drives me to go outside of my comfort zone on some occasions.

That's it for this week! I hope you enjoy reading, see you next week.

My Favourite Sci-Fi Shows

Hi all!

Back in July I made a blog post about my favourite zombie shows. This week I wanted to follow that up with my favourite sci-fi shows. I absolutely adore watching sci-fi and it's always a genre that I look out for when looking for new shows to watch. I won't talk about the plots too much as I think you should watch them yourself!

The Rain

This is such a fantastic series. The characters are brilliant and the way they react to the world is amazing. There are so many times where I've had to hold my breath while watching as I can't wait to see what happens! It also makes me a bit wary to go outside when it's wet...

Zoo

This series is weird but I love it. Animals start mutating in weird ways and it's up to a team to figure out why. I love the animals with their various mutations and how they set about curing it. Unfortunately this series was cancelled three seasons in, so there isn't an end to this one. Still, I think it's worth a watch.

Helix

I found this one by accident and thought I'd give it a shot. I don't regret anything. It centres on the outbreak of a disease in a facility in the Arctic. The disease begins to mutate the hosts and the scientists there have to find a way to stop it before it releases into the world. In the second season there's a new strain of the disease which is even more strange. Again, this series was cancelled but I loved watching every episode.

Doctor Who

A classic that I've been watching ever since of was revived in 2005. I grew up watching David Tennant battling against various aliens and saving the day. I still remember how much I cried when he regenerated into Matt Smith. But even today I still love the series and all the monsters in it. My favourite are the Weeping Angels. I've even watched Torchwood and a bit of The Sarah Jane Adventures. I can't wait for the next series and to see what new aliens the Doctor has to fight next.

That's it for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading! One day I'll post about my favourite fantasy and horror shows too. See you next week.

Rocky has Crossed the Rainbow Bridge

Hi all,

Some sad news this week. Rocky, my fifteen year-old cat, passed away on the 22nd August. He went peacefully surrounded by family.

If you've read some of my older blog posts then I'm sure that you're aware that Rocky was my first writing buddy, the one who was with me when I wrote my first book. I even turned him into a human character in Elemental Dragons, but tried to keep his personality the same. He became Hazel's overprotective older brother who was creative but a softie at heart. He was there for me every step of the way through writing Blood and Water, which was called Marine at the time. Even after I finished the book and started researching agents and editing the book myself, he was there by my side. Or sometimes, literally in my face!

The behaviour of the dragons in Elemental Dragons is mostly inspired cats. Rocky was my 'dragon' that I would observe in between writing to get some of his behaviours right. For example; the dragons sleep curled up with their tails covering their noses, which is what cats do.

I want to do something in his memory but I'm not too sure what yet. I would love to work with a cat charity and raise some funds for them or even run a raffle with my books as some of the prizes. I have a charity in mind already but I'm not going to rush myself into contacting them, I'm going to give myself enough time to grieve properly.

Losing him was heartbreaking and I know he would want me to keep writing, which is what I'll do. Mishka, my five year-old cat, has been helping me through this time and I hope that she will take up his role as chief writing buddy.

I loved him so much and I'll never forget everything he did for me. I'll find some way to do some good in his honour once I've sorted my own head out first.

That's it for this week. See you next Sunday.

My First Solo Book Signing

Hi all!

This week i'm going to talk about my first ever solo book signing event! I've done a group signing before with other authors at a different bookshop but this one was entirely me and my own books! It was scary and exciting at the same time and I wanted to share with you how it went.

The signing was at The British Red Cross Bookshop in Plympton, where I was their author of the month for August. They interviewed me in February and I donated a few copies of my books for them to display as well as some bookmarks. They offered to let me do an event at one of their shops which I happily accepted. At first I wondered if I should do a book reading but I'm not confident enough with that yet. Instead, I decided a signing would be a good idea. I designed a poster advertising the event on social media.

First off, I took all of my books. I didn't want to confine myself to one genre and also wanted a variety for the table. I also took stickers, bookmarks, bookplates and pins. I wanted to use them to brighten up the table and give readers a little extra if they wanted it. After doing a bit of research online I found it would be a good idea to have a list to collect emails just in case anyone wanted to sign up to my newsletter. I didn't have any takers this time, but I still think it was a great idea. There was also a price list, which I printed two of. One for anyone who comes up to my table and one for the bookshop to keep at their till. We both kept track of everything that was sold and made sure the numbers matched up at the end of the signing. This worked out great as readers knew what the prices were when they had a look and there was no confusion with the bookshop either. The last thing I printed was a QR code that took readers to my Amazon page. If for any reason they didn't want a paperback yet or they preferred ebooks, they could take a look on there.

Now, I know that some of you are wondering how many I sold...

I sold five books!

For the first hour of the signing no-one had bought anything and I was starting to get disheartened. But my boyfriend came with me for support and we decided to do a bit of book shopping ourselves when we were there. It distracted me for a bit and I've got two more books to be added to my 'To Be Read' pile! Some members of my writer's group popped in to show their support and bought a couple signed copies which was lovely.

Five books may not sound like a lot to some, but for my first signing I couldn't be happier. I was so worried that no-one would show up and I wouldn't sell anything. But I sold two bookmarks and a bookplate too!

I'd love to do another signing at some point now that I have some experience. I know what to expect and hopefully I can improve for next time and try to draw more readers to my table. The staff in the bookshop were kind and supportive and did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable.

That's it for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading! Keep an eye out for next week's post, I think you might like it! See you then.

July Camp NaNoWriMo Wrap-Up

Hi all,

Another NaNoWriMo is done! This one was for Missing Constellations, which I’m hoping to launch as a Patreon exclusive at some point. This event was the best I’ve done in a while and I found myself getting more and more drawn into the story.

Missing Constellations follows Ataraxia and Laelaps, two constellations from Greek mythology who become stranded on Earth. The book contains various creatures from mythology, including: the Namean Lion, Scylla, Charybdis, Chrysomallus and Cerberus. There will be more as I continue writing, as I’ve found that the story isn’t quite done yet!

Instead, Missing Constellations will now be a trilogy. The series will be called Empty Skies, and the other two books will be called:

Book #2: Freezing Constellations

Book #3: Blazing Constellations

My final word count is…

I managed to complete the first draft the day after NaNoWriMo ended and the story is over 77K in total.

Ataraxia is a lot more adventurous than Laelaps and is more likely to rush headfirst into situations. Her power means that she always escapes anything, but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t get hurt. Laelaps’ power is to always catch whatever he chases. Unlike Ataraxia, he is anxious and hates fighting. The book explores his anxiety and how much he struggles with everything that they have to do. But Ataraxia is always by his side and willing to help in whatever way she can.

They are joined by the Namean Lion, who calls himself Ichor, and Cerberus. Together, the four of them battle to take down The Remnants. A trio of beings who represent the anger and loneliness in the world. They were locked away in Tartarus, but have now managed to escape. They have blessed three monsters with immortality in exchange for getting rid of the constellations. The one that they fight in this book is The Missing, who has blessed Scylla with immortality. Scylla uses a pack of dogs to do her bidding for her and wants nothing more than to rid the world of the gods and the constellations.

I’m not sure when I’ll start writing book two as I want to get through the rest of the Original Elementals series first. But I would still love for this series to be a Patreon exclusive and then eventually end up on Amazon. I love this universe and I can’t wait to share the stories with you.

That’s it for this week! Next week I’m going to be talking about my first solo book signing, so keep an eye out for that! See you next Sunday.

PS; don’t forget to check out these book bundles before they disappear!

A Milestone in NaNoWriMo

Hi all,

Ever since I joined NaNoWriMo in 2018 I've tried my best to take part in all of the events that they offer yearly. I've written fourteen books during NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo and I've just hit a massive milestone...

One million words written!

If you haven't heard of NaNoWriMo, it's an event that happens three times a year where you have to hit a writing or editing goal. I always go for the usual 50K words in a month.

I've never counted up all the words that I've written but I'm so glad that NaNoWriMo gives you the option of doing so on your profile. I've seen that number tick up over the years and I'm so glad that it's now at one million. Every book that I've written for NaNoWriMo will eventually be published and I love adding the covers to each of the projects and marking them as published.

If you're curious, the projects that make up the one million words are:

Elemental Dragons #3: Glass and Ice

Elemental Dragons #4: Cinder and Fire

Celestial Plague #2: Heaven

Years

Mute

Curse of Anubis #1 (Name Change Pending)

Curse of Anubis #3 (Name Change Pending)

Curse of Anubis #4 (Name Change Pending)

Original Elementals #1: Frostbite

Original Elementals #3: Shadowhunter

Celestial Plague #4: Hell

Original Elementals #5: Tempest

Orignal Elementals #6: Sunrise

Missing Constellations

I'd love to hit two million words written and I will keep writing for NaNoWriMo events. It has helped me so much with my writing and I love adding my daily word count to the website to see the numbers tick up.

That's it for this week! Next week I'm going to do a wrap-up for July Camp NaNoWriMo, see you then!

My Feline Co-Author

Hi all!

It's been a while since I wrote a post about Mishka, so I thought I would rectify that! She's my five year old cat who has been with me through several books.

Writing.

She assists me with my writing, usually by headbutting my phone or laptop. Occasionally she will place a paw on the keyboard to try to add stuff in. If I spend too long writing and not paying her enough attention, she will walk all over me until I pet her. She's always making sure that I take enough breaks.

Editing.

If I spend too long editing, she let's me know by screaming or walking over my laptop. Unfortunately she has a habit of deleting sentences that I often have to re-write anyway. A bit annoying, but helpful in the end.

Formatting.

While I'm formatting my books, she usually takes this time to curl up beside me. Either by my hip or by my armpit. I guess this is the time she knows not to disturb me too much, except if I've done it too long without a break.

Uploading books to Amazon.

Despite publishing eight books, I still get nervous whenever it's time to hit publish. Luckily I have Mishka beside me. Just stroking her while she purrs eases my anxiety while my book uploads. She makes me feel better about the whole process.

Marketing.

Now we're back to headbutting my laptop. She loves doing this, just to let me know that she's still around and wants my attention. Whenever I run Amazon ads she wanders in front of the screen so I can't check the numbers too often. Either that or she paws at the keyboard.

Despite her being annoying sometimes, I wouldn't swap her for anything in the world. She's become a vital part of my author career, even if she is just screaming. I know I'm not the only one who has pets that help them write, quite a lot of authors have fuzzy companions to help them!

That's it for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading. See you next week.

Infostack Review

Hi all!

I'm not sure about how many authors are aware of Infostack and the deals they offer, so I thought I would give my thoughts here. I've purchased their Write, Publish, Profit bundle three times and I'm happy with what I got.

Infostack offer cheap bundles with certain themes and businesses in mind. The one that I'll be talking about is Write, Publish, Profit. They do other bundles as well, such as wellness, healthy eating and marketing. I've never tried any of them as they haven't been of any interest to me, but from what I've seen they look quite good too.

They contact a variety of writers, marketers and course owners and bundle it all into one for $49. They have several ebooks, courses and worksheets that you can work through. Some are discounts on software or services, such as cover design or editing. There is a cheatsheet you can buy to help navigate your way through the bundle if you're confused too.

My favourite part of these bundles are some of the courses you can take. I've always struggled with marketing and a few of the courses are really good and have helped with that.

Anyone can purchase the bundle at any point in their writing journey. It covers starting your story to marketing it when it's published. Even though I've published books previously, I still find some of the writing and editing courses useful.

I'm a huge fan of Infostack because of Write, Publish, Profit. I've just purchased 6.0 and I'm getting through everything in there slowly but surely! It's only offered once a year for a week, which means you have to sign up to their newsletter or risk missing out on the deal. For $49 you get a bundle worth thousands of everything was purchased individually. I was cautious when I first heard about it as I thought it was too good to be true. I'm so glad it wasn't!

So, if you've never heard of Infostack before or you've been on the fence about purchasing from them, I'd say do it. The deals are amazing and have helped me so much with various aspects of being an author.

That's it for this week, don't forget to check Infostack out! See you next week.

Purgatory Chapter One Preview

Hi all!

Celestial Plague #3: Purgatory will be going up for pre-order next month so I knew I had to show you the first chapter! If you don’t want spoilers for the Celestial Plague series, then you don’t want to keep reading…

Chapter One

Raya didn’t expect to feel her heart getting ripped out of her chest.

Her friend had just disappeared in a funnel of light, tricked by the God she so desperately wanted to please. The monster growls, and his body ripples. A multicoloured mark appears on his chest, next to his heart.

Damisa, her panther self, screams in a fury at the back of her mind.

"You... Give her back!" she screeches, her throat raw from her previous screams.

The man lumbers his oversized body, dragging it against the floor. "She has chosen me."

"She would not."

"Fine, allow me to show you."

Shannon, her remaining friend, holds her back when Raya attempts to attack him. The man raises his head up to the sky and a new funnel of light bursts from the sky. This time, it takes no one. When the light fades, a Sarj jumps forward, blinking its new-born eyes. Its body is a royal purple, covered in various splashes of colour. The monster turns its mismatched eyes to her and her heart sinks.

"Lee?"

The Sarj cocks its head to one side, as if trying to remember.

"Retreat… my children. We have claimed… enough souls today."

The man raises his head again, and several beams of light envelope him and the Sarjs.

Raya attempts to run to her before it’s too late, but she's held back once again. "Lee, no!"

Within seconds, her friend is gone.

Raya collapses to the floor with her head in her hands. "Lee…"

"We'll find a way to fix this," Shannon murmurs in her ear.

Raya can't reply. How could they fix it? Their friend is a Sarj, as far as they know, there's no way to get her back. She didn't even seem to recognise them, if that Sarj was her.

Damisa growls in disagreement.

You're right, Raya replies. That was her.

"We need to get inside," Ezekiel mutters.

Shannon hauls Raya to her feet and leads her back to the café. Dan's smiling face in the window is more than enough to make her blood boil.

He throws the door open with a grin. "Raya! I'm glad you're okay."

Damisa's lips curl as Raya shoulders pass him. The loose skin under her arm wobbles with each movement, but she tries to push the discomfort to the back of her mind.

I'm not okay. My friend is gone.

She sinks into the nearest chair, her arms locked around her body. She studies the stretch marks extending up her arms, blinking her tears away.

We should have shifted.

As Damisa replies with a growl, a wave of fatigue washes over her. There's no way they could have shifted in their state. They've been doing it too much recently; her body needs rest. The stretch marks and loose skin have gotten worse with each shift, her body isn't bouncing back.

She's never been self-conscious, but the look of her body bothers her.

Lee never cared. She thought it was cool that I could shift.

"Come on, we need ideas!" Shannon says.

Dan whips his head towards her. "You need to shut the fuck up. Raya is upset."

"Lee was my friend too!"

"She’s gone now. It’s just us." Dan kneels in front of Raya and tries to take her hand, but she yanks it away. "We're Unbitten. We can still get away from this. Leave these two behind and come with me."

The thought of going anywhere with him repulsed her. Why would she abandon her friends for him?

She looks up at Shannon, who has been sitting down quietly. "Shan?"

Her friend shoots to her feet, twiddling her thumbs nervously. "Yes?"

"Bite me."

Her friend recoils. "What?"

"Raya, you're upset. You don't really—" Dan tries to speak, but she shoulders him out the way.

"Please.”

Raya knows that she isn’t thinking rationally. Some part of her believes that her being Bitten will make her closer to Ashleigh somehow. Maybe it would even bring her friend back. Deep down, she knows it’s not true, but her mind is fogged by seeing her friend as a Sarj.

She tried to remember. She knew it was me.

"No!" Dan screams.

Raya slams into the nearest wall, shaking the paintings that are still hung up. She tries to move her body, but she's pinned, not even able to wiggle her toes. Dan has his one arm outstretched towards her, his fingers curled into his palm.

"Let me go!" she screams.

Damisa roars in a fury in the back of her mind; images of her sinking her teeth into his skin flash into her head.

"This isn’t right. She just wants—" Shannon sighs, taking a step forward.

"She's upset. She doesn't know what she wants."

"She wants to get away from you, lover boy," Ezekiel chimes in.

Dan's head snaps towards Ezekiel. "You need to shut up."

"And you need to learn that no means no," Ezekiel says with a growl.

"I know what's best for her."

Ezekiel throws his head back in a throaty laugh. "You? A person she's known for a few weeks versus a friend she's known for years? Get over yourself."

Dan swipes his hand towards Ezekiel, sending him crashing through the window. Raya slumps to the floor as the glass explodes, sending giant shards in all directions. When she's able to stand up, Ezekiel lies in the middle of the street on a blanket of glass, unmoving.

"Why would you do that?" Shannon screams.

Dan raises his hand towards her. "You want to join him?"

Raya doesn't even think about her next actions. She slams a wooden chair over Dan's back, sending him to the floor like a bag of potatoes. She stands above him, trembling for a few seconds before tossing the chair to the side.

"Shan, bite me."

Shannon shivers. "You don't want this."

"I need to know."

"Know what?"

"What made it so great that Lee had to…" Her words catch in her throat, and she's unable to finish.

"But what about Damisa?"

The panther lets out a pained cry. They don't know what the virus will do to them. Ezekiel couldn't communicate with his animal self.

But he's bitten more people than I ever plan to.

"She'll understand."

"Rai…"

"I need to know."

With a gulp, Shannon gingerly takes Raya's hand and raises it to her mouth. Just when she's sure that the winged girl will back out, she feels teeth pierce her skin.

As she drops to the floor, her mind is filled with Damisa's screams. The virus pumps through her veins, muffling her panther's voice.

I'm so sorry. I know this hurts.

Once the screams become nothing more than panicked whimpers, everything goes black.

***

Jenna finds herself in an unknown place. She quickly deduces that she's in some sort of bedroom, the walls coloured a garish pink and covered in white daisies.

Some kid has poor taste, she thinks to herself.

The second she attempts to sit up, hot pain blasts through her body. Her leg feels like stone, and the skin is red hot to the touch. The infection comes to the forefront of her mind again, although this time she knows there's no saving her.

At least Sin hasn't infected me.

As if her girlfriend was summoned, the door creaks open, and she pops her head around. "You're awake!" she says in relief.

Jenna swallows the lump in her throat. "I feel awful."

Cindy slips in, carefully shutting the door behind her. "I know."

Jenna reaches a hand out, which Cindy takes without hesitation. Her elfish ears are flat against her head, a sign of her anxiety.

Jenna decides to change the subject before it gets too sentimental. "Where are we?"

"In the city. I found a house with its door kicked in."

"So, we could be in someone else's house right now?"

"I've already looked around. Cupboards are looted and the blankets are taken. No way is someone living here."

That statement makes Jenna relax slightly. At least they don't have to worry about fighting off more people. Her leg is proof that it didn't go down well last time.

"Good. What's the plan?"

"The plan is for you to get better."

"I'm not getting better, Sin. My leg is going green."

Both of them look down at her wound. Jenna had been stabbed in the leg by some punk kid who wanted to prove themselves. Although Cindy had managed to find a healer, it was clear that it hadn’t worked all the way through. The skin around her open wound now has a grey tinge, and green pus is leaking from it. There’s a crust of dried liquid running down her leg as well.

Cindy's ears twitch slightly. "We'll find a way."

"The healer didn't work last time."

"That's why we're in the city. I'm going to find her and make sure you're better this time."

Jenna rolls her eyes. "What are you going to do? Threaten her?"

Cindy squares her shoulders. "If necessary."

"You couldn't intimidate a peanut."

This makes the corner of Cindy's lips curve. "I'm going to try. We don't have many options."

Jenna untwines her fingers from hers. "Don't infect me."

"But it could-"

"I'd rather die."

This makes her girlfriend pause. "It's not as bad as you think, Jen."

"I don't want it."

"But-"

"No means no."

Cindy shuffles. "Fine."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

They sit in silence for a few seconds before Cindy stands up, kissing Jenna on the forehead.

"Where are you going?"

"To find the healer."

"The city is huge."

"I'm persistent."

"Watch out for B's group."

"I will. I don't think they've quite forgotten me from last time."

"Just... be careful."

Cindy flashes her a smile. "I will, promise."

As the door shuts quietly, Jenna shifts into a more comfortable position. The covers lift slightly, and she catches a whiff of blood.

"Shit," she mutters.

She throws the covers off to inspect her leg more closely. While it's red and swollen, the only thing oozing from it is pus. The sheets around her bum are stained red with fresh blood, and her thighs are sticky.

"Ugh. I hate periods in the apocalypse!"

She tries to sit up slightly, but her leg twinges with pain. The sound of another door slamming lets her know that Cindy has left. She wouldn’t be able to hear her cries now.

"Shit."

Jenna holds her breath and swings her legs over the bed in one swift motion, gasping in pain. Her leg throbs with even the tiniest movement, and she wishes her girlfriend hadn't left so quickly. Her head spins when she tries to stand, clutching the grey dresser beside her. The feeling of moving makes bile rise in her throat and before she can think, she's vomiting on the floor. Once she's finished, she sinks back down onto the bed, gasping for breath.

"Fuck's sake," she mutters to herself, wiping a trail of sticky saliva from her mouth.

The smell of vomit permeates the room, and the feeling of sitting in her own blood makes her uncomfortable.

How much longer did she have?

She thought infections usually took people quickly, but hers seems to have lasted forever. Maybe it's because of the healer, or maybe she's just lucky.

There's a crash outside that makes her jump and her leg twinge. She listens out for more noise, unsurprised to hear another crash. The curtains to her room are drawn, so she can't see who's out there just by staring out the window. The thought of trying to stand again makes her sick, but she has to know if Cindy is in trouble.

Taking a few deep breaths, she pulls herself up, ignoring the hot pain in her leg. She drags herself towards the window, her injured leg hanging limply behind her. Carefully, she pulls back a curtain, just enough for one eye to peek through. The street is full of knocked over bins and old rubbish. A few of the houses on the other side have been sprayed with graffiti and have their windows smashed in.

She then notices a group of people exit one house, clutching several backpacks. Her heart begins to thrum when she sees them talking to each other while pointing at other buildings. Although Cindy said the house was deserted, these people don't know there's nothing left to take. They cross the street, fanning out in pairs to check the houses. With each kick to the door, she flinches, dragging herself back into bed.

There's no way I can fight them off in this state.

The door gives in easily, and the pair gain access to the house, though they don't come to her immediately. She can hear them clanging around, pulling the place apart to look for any sort of supplies. If what Cindy said is true, they won't be here very long.

"Nothing. I think this place is empty," a muffled voice calls out.

"Let's get out of here. It absolutely stinks."

She's thankful for the pile of vomit on the floor, which makes them leave faster. The door slams shut behind them, and she relaxes again.

That was far too close.

Her heart is still pounding as her eyelids start to droop. She wants to stay awake, but her body is crying out for sleep. For what seems like hours, she fights the urge to drift off, hoping that Cindy will return soon. Eventually, the door creaks open and she's relieved to see her girlfriend.

"Are you okay? There's—"

"People broke in looking for supplies. They didn't find me."

Cindy wrinkles her nose and her gaze lands on the creamy vomit on the floor. "You were sick?"

"I got up too fast."

Her girlfriend scoots onto the bed and scolds her. "Why did you get up?"

"My period started."

Cindy lifts the covers up. "Oh. Good thing I found some towels."

"I feel really icky," Jenna mumbles, pulling the covers up to her face.

Cindy's face falls. "I'll go get the towels. I even managed to find a can of food. I'll start cooking it for you."

"Make sure you eat too..." Jenna mumbles as sleep finally overcomes her.

"You need it more…" Is the last thing she hears before drifting off.
